As a painter, sculptor, muralist, scenic artist and architectural designer, Ricardo Nascimento’s work draws upon his rich Brazilian cultural heritage, his condition as an immigrant and a life long sense of wonder towards nature, science and the human spirit.
Whether splashing paint on a canvas to freeze motion in time, or painting anonymous faces of many colors to allow the viewers to spend some time up close with people they would not dare to approach in real life, his intention is to demonstrate how easily we can fall prey to symbols, scripts and concepts that lead us away from the truth.
Born in Rio , Nascimento grew up in the eternal summer of the tropics with an avid hunger to learn and experience things far away in time and space. He received degrees in Art and Architecture, worked in Theater and Television, Non Profits, Commercial Art, Architecture, Music and Radio.
